Wool dryer ball FAQ

Straight answers, no waffle. If yours isn’t here, email hello@woolyheroes.co.

Do wool dryer balls actually work?

Yes. They tumble between your clothes and keep them apart, so warm air can move through the load. That helps cut drying time, softens fabric naturally and helps reduce static cling and wrinkles.

Results vary with your dryer, the size of the load and the fabrics, so give them a few loads to settle in.

How many should I use?

3 to 6 for a small or medium load. For a large load, or heavy things like towels and bedding, use all 6.

Will my set look exactly like the photos?

Not exactly. Each ball is felted and finished by hand, so faces, markings and colours vary from set to set. You’ll get six wool dryer balls in the design you choose, each with its own personality.

How long do they last?

Up to 1,000 loads. They get a little smoother and more compact as the wool keeps felting, which is normal.

Mine are getting fuzzy. Is that normal?

Yes. Slight pilling early on is natural for felted wool and won’t affect how they work. Trim any loose fibres with scissors if you’d like them to look neat.

Do they have a scent?

There are no added fragrances. We recommend using them without added oils. Always follow your dryer manufacturer’s instructions.

Are they gentle on baby clothes and sensitive skin?

They’re made of 100% New Zealand wool with no added chemicals, fragrances or coatings, which makes them a gentle choice for baby clothes and for anyone who prefers to skip dryer sheets.

Do they help with pet hair?

They help lift pet hair off clothes and bedding as they tumble. The hair ends up in the lint trap, so empty it after each load.

Can they replace dryer sheets and fabric softener?

Yes. That’s what they’re for. Use them instead of disposable dryer sheets and liquid fabric softener.

Where can I buy them?

On Amazon.com in the US and Amazon.ca in Canada. Every design on our Meet the Heroes page links straight to it.
